The world moves at an unsustainable pace, dragging you along with it. In the book One Word that Will Change Your Life, the authors highlight a memorable connection with the Chinese pictorial representation for busyness.

“There’s no question that it’s hard to break away from the busyness of life. It has become the silent killer of our day. In the Chinese language, the word busyness is represented by single pictograph of two characters: heart and killing!” (p. 8)

The authors warn that “busyness makes us stop caring about the things we care about” and remind us that “activity does not mean achievement” (p. 9).

Activity does not mean achievement.

Don’t be fooled—there are no consolation prizes for empty activity. It’s time to care about what truly matters.
